Back when we were looking to launch our digital publishing company, but before we had a name, Nicole and I were walking around Georgetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we found ourselves crossing O Street, Nicole said, \u201cNow if I lived here, I\u2019d definitely want to be on O Street.\u201d And she didn\u2019t say it because of the neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O Street. Sure. How promising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But when we tried O Street as a website, it looked like ostreet<\/em> and lost all that O punch. Not to mention how that solitary letter might make people think of Oprah, which we certainly didn\u2019t want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So we thought about it some more and realized that when we wrote about someone climaxing, it wasn\u2019t spelled O<\/em>, but Oh<\/em>. By that time, Street was starting to sound too hard edged anyway, so we went onto other Oh ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A couple months later, we were in Florida, driving through Riviera Beach, and there was Avenue<\/em> O. Which we really liked the sound of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Turns out there\u2019s also Avenue O in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We found a street sign and happened upon an artist who understood what we were talking about and \u2026 well, come sunrise, there was Avenue Oh<\/em>.
